Kishtwar, September 25, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), chaired a meeting today to assess the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) Scheme in the district.

The meeting included the District Nodal Officer (DNO), Heads of Institutions (HOIs) from PM SHRI Schools, and officials from the Chief Education Officer (CEO) office.

The review focused on a detailed component-wise analysis of the scheme’s implementation, evaluating achievements and challenges. The DNO provided updates on milestones, noting that Phase 1 saw the establishment of two schools—UPS Pakalan and HS Drubeel—while Phase 2 included HSS Mughal Maidan and GHS Atholi.

During the discussions, the DC highlighted the scheme’s commitment to quality education, emphasizing key indicators such as safety measures for students, adolescent girl programs, career guidance, and access to clean drinking water.

Other essential components included LED lighting, composite facilities, Green School activities, kitchen gardens, and Swachhta Pakhwada initiatives.

HOIs presented comprehensive reports on the progress within their institutions. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the necessity of regular review meetings for effective implementation and pledged to personally monitor progress.

He underscored the importance of judicious fund utilization and involving School Management Committees (SMCs) to promote transparency.

Moreover, he called for targeted efforts to increase enrollment among children aged 6-14 who have left school or never enrolled, aligning with vocational training goals under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Sh. R K Shavan concluded by advocating for a focused approach to ensure the PM SHRI Scheme’s successful execution.
