Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), chaired a meeting on October 1, 2024, to review and finalize the arrangements for the upcoming Navratra, Mahanavami, and Dussehra festivals. Attended by officers from various departments and socio-religious representatives, the meeting focused on ensuring a smooth and safe celebration for the public.
The Sanatan Dharm Sabha representatives informed the DC that the effigies would be placed at Chowgan Ground, and the traditional Jhanki (procession) will follow the established route from Aadarsh Dramatic Club, Dharmshalla to Chowgan Ground on October 12, 2024, between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
They emphasized the need for uninterrupted water and power supply in the town and requested water tankers for Chowgan Ground, proper stage installation, barricading, and cleanliness at all temples.
DC Kishtwar assured that all necessary arrangements, including sufficient security deployment along the Jhanki route and at the venue, would be made in advance. He instructed the heads of various departments to work collaboratively for the timely completion of preparations.
ExEn PHE was tasked with setting up pipes and barricades at the venue, while CMO Kishtwar was directed to ensure ambulance services and emergency medical care during the Jhanki and Dussehra celebrations.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, informed participants about alternative traffic routes to prevent disruptions. The meeting was attended by other key officials and members of Sanatan Dharm Sabha, including President Arvind Parihar and senior members like BalKrishan Parihar.
