
DC Doda hosts Soil Mixing/ Amrit Kalash Yatra Presides Block Diwas at Gandoh

Meri Maati Mera Desh (MMMD) campaign was conducted successfully in the district, encouraging people to pay their tributes to the Veers and Veeranganas who dedicated and sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The second phase of MMMD campaign was launched in the district encouraging people from each Village to take part in Amrit Kalash Yatras, collecting soil from villages in Amrit Kalashs (Urns) and sending it to Blocks from 1st – 13th October. From the Blocks, the Amrit Kalashs will travel to District Headquarter, and a mega event has been planned on 22nd of October 2023, when these Amrit Kalashs from all the Blocks reach Doda.
The Amrit Kalash will then travel to the capital city of Jammu before its transportation to the national capital Dehli from 22nd – 27th October. DC Doda Vishesh Mahajan today visited Gandoh Sub Division and hosted Amrit Kalash Yatra and mixing of soil, received from all the fourteen panchayats of Gandoh Block, in an impressive and grand function at Revenue Complex Gandoh.

He, along with other District Officers, paid floral tribute to the Martyrs here at Revenue Complex in Gandoh. A colourful and mesmerising cultural programme was presented by the local artists and students of various schools of the Sub Division during the MMMD Amrit Kalash Yatra programme.Apace with the Amrit Kalash Yatra, DC Doda also presided over public outreach programme at Revenue Complex Gandoh under Block Diwas initiative of the UT administration to get first hand appraisal of the local issues, demands and aspirations by listening them directly at their doorsteps.
People presented various community and individual issues, which include construction/ upgradation of TRC and its approach road in Gandoh to boost local tourism, construction/ upgradation of road infrastructure in the Sub Division, Meeting out the shortage of staff in Educational and Health care institutions, Regular release of old age pension and other such issues.
DC, along with other district officers, listened to all the grievances patiently and assured their appropriate and early redressal.DC, while addressing the gathering, voiced that the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme aims to emotionally connect every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of creating a great India. DC said that we ought to respect and remember those real heroes who sacrificed their precious lives unconditionally for our peaceful existence.
DC voices for maintaining peace, hormony, and brotherhood as an ultimate tribute to the great martyrs. DC also spoke of Drugs Menace and Swachhta and advocated for collective efforts in getting rid of drugs menace and creating and maintaining Swachh surroundings.Besides, Gandoh the Block Diwas programmes were held at three other locations across the district at Panchayat Ghar Bheja, Block Bhaderwah, Sub District Bhaderwah; Block Headquarter Assar, Sub Division Assar; and Government Higher Secondary School Tanta, Tehsil Kahara, Sub Division Thathri. People in large numbers attended the Block Diwas programmes at all other locations and demanded up-gradation of local infrastructure in the Health, Education sector, besides extension/ upgradation of road connectivity, water and power facilities in the area.
During the programme, demands regarding the macadamisation of roads, execution of works under MGNREGA, and upgradation of electric poles, among others, were raised by the participants. The Block Diwas mechanism has been instrumental in bridging the gap between people and the administration. During the day long Block Diwas proceedings, Public and PRIs put forth a range of issues/ demands.
The Presiding officers of the Block Diwas gave patient hearing to the issues and demands and directed the concerned officers to prepare a list of issues/grievances raised pertaining to their departments and resolve the same at an earliest.
