Complaint Against AAP Legal Cell’s Protest in Delhi Courts
A complaint has been lodged with the acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court against the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) legal cell for organizing a protest in connection with the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The protest, scheduled for Wednesday, has sparked controversy, with the complainant urging immediate action to halt the illegal demonstration.
Call for Investigation and Discipline & Demand for Accountability
The complainant, Vaibhav Singh, a practicing advocate, has called for a thorough investigation into the matter by the Bar Council of India and the Bar Council of Delhi to address allegations of professional misconduct. Additionally, Singh has requested disciplinary proceedings against lawyers and political workers participating in the protest within court premises.
The complaint seeks penalties against the AAP Legal Cell for orchestrating an unlawful protest within Delhi court premises. It highlights the trend of political parties exploiting their legal cells to exert pressure on law enforcement agencies and the judiciary, a practice deemed unacceptable and in violation of professional ethics.
Allegations of Misconduct
The complaint references a video posted by Sanjiv Nasiar, Advocate and Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi, alleging the illegal arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and implicating the central government. Such unfounded accusations, according to the complaint, tarnish the reputation of law enforcement agencies and undermine the integrity of the legal system.
The AAP Legal Cell has called for protests at various court locations across Delhi, including the Delhi High Court, Patiala House Court, Dwarka Court, Saket Court, Karkardoona Court, Tishazari Court, and Rouse Avenue Court. The move has drawn condemnation and calls for accountability from legal quarters.
