Coinbase has communicated its intentions to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) through written letters, outlining its proposal to launch futures trading for Dogecoin. These futures contracts would include a cash-settle feature, providing users with a mechanism to hedge against future asset values.

In its correspondence with the CFTC, Coinbase highlighted Dogecoin’s enduring popularity and robust community backing. The exchange emphasized that Dogecoin has transcended its origins as a meme to become a significant presence in the cryptocurrency landscape.

Coinbase aims to roll out the Dogecoin futures trading service by April 1, potentially utilizing the ‘self-certification’ method on its Coinbase Derivatives platform. Meanwhile, Dogecoin’s value has surged by 19.90 percent in the last 24 hours, signaling increasing investor interest.

Dogecoin’s Growth Trajectory and Market Cap

Since its inception in 2013 as a lighthearted project by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, Dogecoin has experienced remarkable growth.
