Cloudburst in Anantnag Damages Home and Kills Livestock, No Human Casualties
A residential house in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district suffered significant damage due to a cloudburst on Sunday late evening.
The house, owned by Abdul Majeed Najar, son of Khaliq Najar, was impacted by the sudden and severe weather event. The cloudburst also caused a flash flood, exacerbating the destruction.
Impact on Property
The incident did not only affect Abdul Majeed Najar’s home. A boundary wall belonging to Mohammad Amin Chopan, son of Abdul Rehman, was also damaged by the flash flood that accompanied the cloudburst.
The force of the water and debris was significant enough to cause structural damage, demonstrating the intensity of the event.
Loss of Livestock
In addition to the damage to property, the cloudburst resulted in the death of a cow owned by Abdul Aziz Magray, son-in-law of Ramzan.
The loss of livestock represents a substantial economic hit to the family, highlighting the broader impact of such natural disasters on rural livelihoods.
No Human Casualties
Despite the destruction, there were no reports of human casualties in the incident. Officials have confirmed that while the property damage is considerable, no lives were lost.
Authorities have begun further proceedings to assess the full extent of the damage and provide necessary assistance to the affected families.
The community is rallying together to support those impacted by this sudden natural disaster.
