The central government has kickstarted the process of notifying the dates for the upcoming seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.

In a recent development, the Cabinet meeting recommended to President Droupadi Murmu to issue notifications for the different phases of the elections. These notifications are mandated under sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act 1951.

Election Dates and Process

The first notification is slated to be issued on March 20, marking the commencement of the nomination process for the first phase of polls scheduled for April 19 across 102 seats. The subsequent phases are scheduled for April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.

The initiation of the notification process signifies the beginning of the election process for constituting the Eighteenth House of the People.

Preparation for New Government’s Agenda

In parallel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed ministers to devise a comprehensive roadmap for the first 100 days and the subsequent five years of the new government. This directive includes collaboration with officers and secretaries from their respective ministries to chart out a strategic plan for governance and development.

The concurrent efforts reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition and effective governance amid the electoral process.
