CBI Arrests Patwari and Associate in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Patwari from Samba and his associate, a Chowkidar, Halqa Nanga, in connection with a bribery case. According to a spokesperson, the arrests were made following a complaint alleging that the Patwari demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 for issuing Girdawari of land owned by the complainant.

Operation and Arrest

CBI conducted a trap operation and caught the accused red-handed during the transaction of the bribe amount, which was reduced to Rs. 9,000. The Patwari instructed the complainant to hand over the bribe to his associate, the Chowkidar. Both individuals were arrested during this exchange.

Legal Proceedings

The arrested accused will be presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu, on March 27, 2024. Additionally, searches are being conducted at the residential premises of the accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
