BSF Neutralizes Mortar-Shell Near Jammu Border
A mortar shell, fired by Pakistan rangers during a recent ceasefire violation, was found and neutralized by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday in an agriculture field near the International Border in Jammu’s Arnia sector, officials said.
The BSF personnel acted on the information of locals, who spotted the unexploded shell in their field, and reached the spot to recover it. They then safely defused the shell in the fields, preventing a major tragedy in the area, officials said.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that a mortar shell has been detected and defused in Arnia. Earlier, on October 31, another shell was found and neutralized by the BSF in the same sector.
The Arnia sector has been witnessing frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistan rangers, who target the civilian areas and the BSF posts along the border. On October 27, two BSF personnel and a woman were injured in unprovoked shelling by Pakistan rangers in the sector.
