In a significant development, BJP MLA Ramdular Gond has been convicted for the rape of a minor girl nine years ago. Additional District Judge (First) MP/MLA Court, Ehsan Ullah Khan, delivered the verdict in the 2014 rape case.

Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Satyaprakash Tripathi confirmed the MLA’s guilt in the incident that occurred on November 4, 2014.

The court, having found Gond guilty under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 5L/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, remanded the BJP MLA to judicial custody. The sentencing has been scheduled for December 15.

Ramdular Gond, representing the Duddhi assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, had the case registered against him by the Myorpur Police based on the victim’s brother’s complaint.

Notably, Gond was not holding the MLA position at the time of the incident, and the trial was ongoing in the POCSO Court. Following his election as the MLA, the case was transferred to the MP-MLA Court for further proceedings.
