BCCI Hands Down a Two-Year Suspension to Jk Cricketer, Announces JKCA
On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a significant decision by imposing a ban on a cricketer hailing from Jammu and Kashmir. The action was taken based on the allegations of multiple birth certificate submissions.
In response to this, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) issued an official statement addressing the situation. According to the statement, Vanshaj Sharma, a cricketer from Bishnah, Jammu, has been prohibited from participating in BCCI tournaments for a period of two years starting from October 27. This action was taken due to his presentation of various birth certificates, each with different dates of birth.

Brig Anil Gupta, who serves as a Member of Administration for JKCA, clarified that following the two-year ban, Vanshaj Sharma will only be eligible to participate in the Senior Men’s Tournament organized by the BCCI. His involvement in any age group tournaments under the BCCI will be restricted.
The situation is rooted in Vanshaj Sharma’s move to a different state, where he applied to become a member of the U-23 Men’s team in Bihar. However, it’s worth noting that the BCCI had access to Sharma’s information since his initial registration with the JKCA in the 2021-22 season. Consequently, despite his change in affiliation, he faced penalties for the submission of multiple birth certificates.
As a result of this, Vanshaj Sharma has received a two-year ban from participating in any cricket tournaments, and he is further barred from engaging in any age group tournaments affiliated with the BCCI for the remainder of his career.
