BARC Training Schools: Apply Now for 2024 Opportunities in Engineering and Science
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training Schools have opened opportunities for Engineering Graduates and Post Graduates in the Group-A Category Scientific Officers through the DGFS and OCES 2024 scheme entry. Interested candidates are required to submit an Online Application in the prescribed format on the BARC Online Examination website before February 8, 2024, exclusively for the BARC OCES and DGFS 2024 Scientific Officer positions.
The OCES and DGFS 2024 programs act as gateways to promising careers in the Department of Atomic Energy via the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School and its affiliated institutions. Eligible candidates include Engineering Graduates or Science Post-Graduates with a minimum of 60 percent marks, paving the way for admission to training programs through DGFS and OCES 2024. OCES offers a one-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post-Graduates at BARC Training School and its affiliates, while DGFS provides a two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for pursuing MTech in specific specializations at various Indian Institutes of Technology.
Participants in OCES Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) and DGFS Fellows receive a monthly stipend of Rs 55,000 during their training period, along with a one-time book allowance of Rs 18,000. DGFS Fellows also have their tuition fee for MTech/MChem Engg reimbursed and receive a one-time Contingency Grant of Rs 40,000 per annum for two years, along with additional funding of up to Rs 400,000 under the BRNS Fast Track Project Scheme. Upon successful completion of training, candidates join as Scientific Officers in the Pay Level-10 of the 7th Pay Commission, starting with three increments (Rs 63,000), securing a Group-A category government job at a DAE unit with attractive career progression.
Successful Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) will be posted as Scientific Officers in various DAE units, including BARC Mumbai, IGCAR Kalpakkam, RRCAT Indore, VECC Kolkata, HWB Mumbai, NFC Hyderabad, BRIT Mumbai, BHAVINI Kalpakkam, AMD Hyderabad, UCIL Jaduguda, DCS&EM Mumbai, among others.
Additional Training Scheme options like FRT-M, FRT-E, QA and QC, and RSES are available for specific engineering disciplines. The age limit is 26 years, and an initial screening will be based on GATE-2022/GATE-2023/GATE-2024 scores or performance in an Online Test scheduled from March 16 to March 17, 2024. The Selection Interviews will take place in Mumbai and Hyderabad during May-June 2024. An application fee of Rs 500/- is applicable, while Women/SC/ST/PWD and DODPKIA candidates are exempt from the fee.
