    Key Highlights:

    1. Army Chief assures coordinated counterterrorism efforts with J&K security agencies.
    2. High-level security meetings held amid rising terror incidents and cross-border infiltration.
    3. Emphasis on strengthening security grid to ensure zero cross-border infiltration.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi assured Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha that the armed forces and security agencies will work together to tackle growing militant activities in the Jammu region.

This commitment was made during high-level security review meetings in Srinagar, amid concerns over rising terror incidents and cross-border infiltration.

General Dwivedi chaired a meeting at the police headquarters before moving to the Raj Bhawan for another session with LG Sinha, who emphasized the need for meticulous and well-planned counterterrorism operations.

Sinha directed all agencies to enhance their coordination and strengthen the security grid to ensure zero cross-border infiltration.

The Army Chief’s visit to Jammu, his second since taking charge on June 30, followed two recent terror attacks that left nine army personnel dead in Kathua and Doda districts. Senior officers from defense and home ministries also attended these meetings.

A post on X by the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) highlighted the focus on thwarting terrorist activities and anti-national elements in the region. The post included pictures from General Dwivedi’s meeting with the Lt Governor.

The Army stated that all formations of the Udhampur-based northern command are committed to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Joint and coordinated operations with the J&K Police aim to eliminate foreign terrorists who have infiltrated and are moving in the upper reaches of Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts.

Earlier, senior BSF and police officials from J&K and Punjab discussed ways to share real-time inputs and strengthen the anti-infiltration grid along the International Border during a high-level coordination conference in Kathua district.

This meeting aimed to enhance coordination and synergy among the BSF, Punjab Police, and J&K Police.
