Reports have emerged stating that Amit Shah is set to chair a significant security review meeting on Tuesday, primarily focusing on Jammu & Kashmir’s law and order situation.

Scheduled for the afternoon, the session aims to scrutinize the performance of the security grid, emphasizing a zero-terror strategy and matters related to the region’s security and development. Key agenda items include assessments of the area domination plan, zero-terror strategy, law and order, cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and other pertinent security issues.

The attendees will comprise Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police RR Swain, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Director Generals of Police from the Central Reserve Police Force and Border Security Force, along with relevant officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu & Kashmir, will also be part of the meeting.

Additionally, the agenda will encompass a review of development projects, with a specific focus on the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu & Kashmir, launched in 2021 with a budget of Rs 28,400 crore.

The Home Minister is expected to assess the progress and impact of development initiatives during the meeting, aligning with continuous efforts to fortify the security apparatus and drive comprehensive development in the region.

This session follows previous high-level reviews led by Amit Shah, notably one held on January 13 last year, which underscored a policy of zero tolerance against militancy and the imperative to reinforce the 360-degree security mechanism. Another review in April 2023 addressed various aspects of the security situation and the operational effectiveness of the security grid in the Union Territory.
