Amit Shah to Lead Crucial Meeting Addressing Karnataka’s Drought Crisis
Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, will helm a pivotal meeting on December 23 to deliberate on the dire drought situation in Karnataka, especially affecting several regions in the state. The gathering aims to strategize and allocate resources in response to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s urgent pleas for assistance from the central government.
Advocating for Relief Measures
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has actively lobbied for drought relief resources during recent meetings in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He highlighted the pressing need for immediate aid to address the dire circumstances in Karnataka, emphasizing the critical importance of accelerating key irrigation projects such as Mekedatu, Mahadayi, and Upper Bhadra.
The high-level meeting, presided over by Amit Shah, is anticipated to address these urgent demands and shape decisions crucial to providing relief to the drought-affected regions, aiming to alleviate the longstanding crisis faced by the state.
Karnataka’s Stance on Personal Freedom
Separately, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made headlines by announcing the removal of restrictions on wearing the hijab in educational institutions during a public address in Nanjangud, Mysuru district. He emphasized the significance of personal freedoms, asserting that decisions related to attire and dietary preferences should not be unjustly curtailed, marking a stance against religious intolerance.
Protests in Kerala
In another development, the Congress party in Kerala is organizing a protest march to voice their disapproval of recent police actions against Youth Congress activists. This demonstration seeks to highlight concerns regarding police conduct and underscores growing tensions between the party and law enforcement authorities in the state.
