Srinagar, Apr 12 (VoM News): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28 this year.
The Yatra will span 57 days and will culminate on Raksha Bandhan. As per the official update, the ceremonial ‘Pratham Puja’ will be held on June 29 on the occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima, marking the traditional beginning of the pilgrimage.
Officials said the registration process for devotees will start from April 15. Pilgrims can register through both online and offline modes across the country.
For offline registration, arrangements have been made at 554 branches of banks including Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Yes Bank.
The administration has advised devotees to complete formalities well in advance and strictly follow the guidelines issued for a safe journey.
The annual Amarnath pilgrimage is one of the most significant religious events in the region, drawing lakhs of devotees every year to the holy cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Located at an altitude of around 3,888 metres in the Himalayas, the shrine houses the naturally formed ice Shivling, which devotees believe holds deep spiritual significance.
