The Allahabad High Court has put a halt to the criminal proceedings initiated against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. These proceedings were related to alleged violations of the model code of conduct and Covid norms during the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in 2022. The stay order came from a local court in Gautam Budh Nagar district on a case registered at the Dadri police station, which also involved Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary and others.

Justice Raj Beer Singh, hearing Akhilesh Yadav’s application, issued the stay and requested a response from the state government’s counsel. Furthermore, Ullah highlighted that all witnesses in the case were police personnel with identical statements, raising doubts about their reliability.
