Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba area lit up with an extraordinary spectacle as the Sheikh Zayed Festival welcomed the New Year 2024, setting a blazing trail by shattering four Guinness World Records. Among the highlights were a breathtaking fireworks showcase lasting 40 minutes and a mesmerizing 60-minute drone extravaganza. These stunning displays, accompanied by international performances and diverse programs, infused the atmosphere with joy and cultural richness, delighting visitors.

Drawing a diverse and sizable international crowd, the Festival offered an array of events, activities, and performances to ring in the New Year. The dazzling 40-minute fireworks display secured three Guinness World Records, while an awe-inspiring formation of over 5,000 drones soared above, setting a record for the largest aerial logo.

A pioneering laser show, a first for the region’s New Year celebrations, captivated Festival-goers with its vibrant hues and serene evening rhythms, heralding the onset of the New Year. Spectacular shows unfolded at various venues like the Emirates Fountain and Glowing Towers Garden, complemented by folkloric performances representing cultures from across the globe.

The Festival grounds buzzed with activity as visitors immersed themselves in international celebrations, especially at the Heritage Village, where Razfa and Ayalah dances epitomized the New Year spirit. Children’s City hosted special activities, including plays, competitions, thrilling rides at Fun Fair City, and the spine-chilling House of Horror, catering to a diverse audience.

Around the Emirates Fountain, multitudes gathered to witness unique performances like Sparkling and Confetti shows by authentic American, Mexican, and Ukrainian bands, marking the advent of 2024.

Moreover, the International Civilisations Parade traversed Festival grounds, showcasing global cultures and offering thousands a glimpse into the world’s rich heritage in one vibrant space.

The Festival also treated attendees to novel dining experiences from local and international eateries, alongside shopping discounts and bonus surprises. Running until March 9, 2024, with extended hours on weekends and public holidays, the Festival promises a plethora of events, activities, and competitions catering to all age groups, ensuring a vibrant and memorable experience for all.
