TimBuckDo Co-Founder Mythri Kumar Calls for Strong Budget Push for Gig Economy Ahead of Union Budget 2026
New Delhi: As expectations build around the Union Budget 2026, TimBuckDo Co-Founder Mythri Kumar has urged the government to adopt a forward-looking and inclusive approach, with a sharp focus on the fast-growing gig economy and workforce welfare.
In a statement, Mythri said India stands at a decisive moment in its economic journey and needs a Budget that goes beyond routine fiscal balancing. She stressed that the gig economy—now a major driver of flexible employment and digital entrepreneurship—requires concrete policy support rather than broad assurances.
According to Mythri, extending portable social security, healthcare access and targeted tax relief to gig and platform workers would help formalise the sector and empower millions who contribute to India’s digital-first workforce. “Recognising the unique nature of platform-based work is essential if India wants to build a resilient and inclusive labour ecosystem,” she noted.

She also highlighted the need for meaningful tax reforms to revive consumption and business confidence. Revisiting income tax slabs and enhancing deductions for individuals and enterprises, she said, could stimulate demand across sectors at a time when domestic consumption remains a key growth lever.
Mythri underlined that affordable housing and real estate incentives should remain a priority, citing their role in job creation and household investment. Reforms in these sectors, she added, would have a multiplier effect on the broader economy.
Summing up her expectations, Mythri said Budget 2026 should aim to strengthen India’s competitive edge, improve workforce welfare and unlock opportunities across economic segments. “This Budget must anchor sustainable growth and keep India firmly on track towards its long-term development vision,” she said.
