PM Netanyahu Shares AI-Generated Nuclear Explosion Image Over Tel Aviv Ahead of Israel Elections, Yair Golan Accuses Him of Fearmongering

TEL AVIV, October 25, 2026 [VoM News]: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has drawn criticism after sharing an AI-generated image depicting a nuclear explosion over Tel Aviv, warning that Israel must use the remaining two years of US President Donald Trump’s term to counter what he described as an existential threat from Iran.

The post appeared two days before Israel’s parliamentary elections, scheduled for Tuesday. The image showed a mushroom cloud rising above a densely populated urban area, with an explosion engulfing buildings.

Alongside the image, Netanyahu shared a statement by Israeli writer and political commentator Yuval Blumberg, which argued that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons should remain Israel’s overriding priority.

The statement described Iran and its regional allies as an existential danger and called for state resources to be directed towards addressing the threat. It also warned that Israel’s current window of opportunity could narrow after Trump’s presidency.

The post triggered criticism from opposition figures, who accused Netanyahu of using fear to influence voters ahead of the election.

Democrats chairman Yair Golan said the prime minister should be kept away from social media, arguing that publishing an image of an atomic bomb over Tel Aviv reflected a loss of control.

Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot also accused Netanyahu of resorting to fearmongering and spreading misleading claims during the election campaign.

Israel’s 120-member Knesset is elected through nationwide proportional representation. A party or coalition needs at least 61 seats to secure a parliamentary majority.
