The United States has praised India for successfully hosting the G20 summit, describing it as a significant accomplishment. During the summit, a groundbreaking initiative, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), was jointly announced by the leaders of India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union. This corridor is anticipated to bring about a new era of connectivity between Europe and Asia, stimulating economic growth across both continents.

IMEC: A Landmark Connectivity Project

The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) is a pivotal initiative aimed at fostering connectivity from Europe to Asia. It is expected to fuel economic development and cooperation in areas such as energy and digital connectivity. This landmark project involves a memorandum of understanding signed by the United States, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the EU, and other G20 partners to explore a shipping and rail transportation corridor that will facilitate the flow of commerce, energy, and data between India, the Middle East, and Europe.

The US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, emphasized the success of the recently concluded G20 Summit in New Delhi. He highlighted the significance of the G20’s statement calling for the respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty and condemning violations of these principles.
