Congress MLA in Odisha Treats Patients In Doctors’ Absence
With the Odisha assembly elections just six months away, Congress MLA CS Raazen Ekka stepped in to treat patients and prescribe medicines at a community health center (CHC) in Rajgangpur, Sundergarh district. Dr. Ekka, an MBBS degree holder and a former Indian Army doctor, is a professional doctor who chose to address the absence of medical professionals at the CHC.
Citizen Complaints and MLA’s Response
The MLA’s decision to step into a healthcare role came after receiving complaints from the community about the lack of doctors at the CHC. Faced with the absence of medical professionals, Dr. Ekka, who was elected to the Odisha Assembly from Rajgangpur, decided to put his medical skills to use for the benefit of the local population. He emphasized that residents in the area were being denied basic health services due to the prolonged absence of doctors at the CHC.

Viral Videos and MLA’s Concerns
As Dr. Ekka treated patients at the CHC, videos of his actions went viral on social media platforms. He also expressed his intention to bring the issue of doctor shortages in several health facilities in the tribal-dominated Rajgangpur area to the attention of the government.
Awaiting Health Department Response
At the time of the incident, health department officials were not available for comments. Dr. Ekka’s actions shed light on the ongoing challenges faced by some healthcare facilities in providing essential medical services, particularly in underserved areas, and the role that elected officials can play in addressing such issues.
