
GDC Doda Observes Sir Syed Day 2025 with Literary Zeal
Doda, Oct 17: Government Degree College Doda celebrated Sir Syed Day 2025 with great zeal and reverence to mark the birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the visionary reformer and educationist.
Under the able guidance of the Principal Prof. (Dr) Javid Iqbal, the seminar committee and NSS Unit of the college in association with the departments of Hindi, Urdu and English organized a Poetry Recitation Competition and a Ba’it Bazi to promote the literary and intellectual spirit as inspired by Sir Syed’s legacy.
The programme started with an introductory speech cum welcome address by the chief organiser Dr Jamsheed Ahmed.
Students from various departments participated with enthusiasm, presenting soulful poetry and engaging in a lively exchange of Urdu, Hindi and English couplets that reflected creativity, linguistic flair, and admiration for Sir Syed’s contributions to education and reform.
In the Poetry Recitation Competition Muzzammil Mustfa secured the first position, followed by Muzamil Ahmed and Tamana Padha. In Ba’it Bazi, Team Sahir Ludhianvi emerged as the winner.
In his presidential address the principal congratulated the organisers and emphasized the timeless relevance of Sir Syed’s ideals. He urged the students to uphold the values of education, rationality, and patriotism.
The event reflected the college’s commitment to nurturing literary culture and promote a spirit of social and institutional progress.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Barket Ali and Mr Farhan Ahmed whereas Prof Satish Kumar, Prof Naz, Prof Anoj Kumar, Prof Purnima Manhas, and Prof Zain ul Abiden were the judges of the event.
Dr Tanvir Hussain, Prof Manjeet Kumar, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Prof Majid Ghani, Dr Safi Mohd and other faculty members were present on the occasion. The programme ended with a prize distribution ceremony in which the winners and volunteers were awarded with certificates, medals and trophies.
