Tragic Car Accident Claims Six Lives in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh District
A devastating incident unfolded in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, resulting in the loss of six lives. According to the local police, the tragedy occurred when a car carrying the victims plunged into the Kali river near Lakhanpur. Pithoragarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokeshwar Singh provided details, stating that the accident took place on the Dharchula-Lipulekh road late in the evening. The individuals in the car were on their way back after a ‘darshan’ of Adi Kailash.
A Multistate Tragedy
The victims hailed from various parts of the country. Among the deceased, two were from Bengaluru, two from Telangana, and two from Uttarakhand, highlighting the multistate impact of this tragic incident.
Government Expresses Grief and Solidarity
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The government is committed to providing support and assistance to the affected families during this difficult time.
Challenges in Recovering Bodies
The challenging geographical conditions and the arrival of darkness have temporarily hindered the recovery efforts to retrieve the bodies. However, the local authorities are actively coordinating efforts to initiate the search and recovery process, which is scheduled to begin on the following day.
