    VoM News Desk, June 20, 2026: The 2024 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, and Google DeepMind’s Vice President John Jumper is all set to join Anthropic PBC, which seems a major setback as high-profile personally made his exit from the AI-gaint.

    The personality who played a key role in DeepMind’s scientific and AI research efforts, also behind AlphaFold – a breakthrough system that predicts protein structures.

    Jumper announced his decision while having a post on social media platform ‘X’ which reads as, “After nearly 9 years, I have decided to leave Google DeepMind and join Anthropic (after taking some time to recharge). I am incredibly grateful for my time at GDM. @demishassabis took a real chance letting me lead the AlphaFold team just six months after finishing my PhD, and the entire GDM team taught me so much about how to do great science. GDM is a special place, and I’ll still be excited to hear about what amazing things they discover next.”

    This development comes at a time when already Google is facing a tough competition in the race to develop and commercialise advanced AI tools, especially in coding space where it’s arch rivals like Anthropic and OpenAI has achieved the momentum.

    Earlier, over the AI-driven coding products, Google faced the massive concerns as per it’s employees Google has totally failed to position its tools for enterprise adoption.
