
India Secures the Vice-Presidency of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Vivek Aggarwal Appointed
New Delhi, June 20, 2026 [VoM News]: In a major global achievement, India has secured its first-ever Vice-Presidency at the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) marking the India’s role and contribution in shaping the rules against global financial crime.
The achievement was made by the Ministry of Finance announced. Ministry announced that Vivek Aggarwal, a 1994-batch IAS officer has been appointed to the post for the July 2026 to June 2027 term.

He currently serves as Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and will take on one of the senior leadership roles in the Paris-based watchdog once the term begins.
Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global watchdog established in 1989 which spans more than 200 jurisdictions sets international standards to curb money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation-related financial risks announced the decision through its forum.
