Jairam Ramesh Accuses PM Modi of Neglecting Manipur Amidst Violence.image/ANI
Congress General Secretary, Jairam Ramesh, has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neglecting Manipur during a time of violence and crisis in the northeastern state. Ramesh questioned why the Prime Minister has not met with the Chief Minister and elected MLAs of Manipur, most of whom belong to his party or its allies. He also raised concerns about the lack of public statements and actions from the Prime Minister on the Manipur issue.
Violence in Manipur Over ST Category Inclusion
The violence in Manipur began on May 3, following protests by the Kuki and Meitei communities against a High Court order asking the state government to consider the inclusion of the Meitei community in the category of Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Calls for Greater Government Attention
Jairam Ramesh’s comments reflect concerns about the handling of the situation in Manipur and a call for more active government involvement in addressing the crisis.
