Jammu 28 Aug: In a remarkable demonstration of effective teamwork and unwavering commitment to public safety, the Air Force, Army, and Civil Administration collaborated to rescue a woman from the challenging and remote area of Kither in Bunjwah.
Under the proficient leadership of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, and Tehsildar Bunjwah Tejinder Sharma, JKAS, the District Administration of Kishtwar swiftly mobilised resources in response to a critical emergency. The incident unfolded when Ulfat Banoo, the daughter of Gulam Mohd Malik from the village of Patnazi (Sarpan), journeyed to Kither to celebrate a wedding ceremony. On her way back yesterday, Ulfat faced treacherous conditions due to unexpected flash floods and landslides, which wreaked havoc on the region. The severe weather not only obstructed her route but also resulted in a catastrophic accident, leaving her with serious spinal injuries. The administration’s prompt action was crucial in ensuring her safe evacuation and access to immediate medical care at Ayush Sub Centre Kither.
Recognising the gravity of the situation, the Indian Air Force based in Udhampur and the 26 RR battalion of the Indian Army 9 Sector Suigarh and 26 RR COY Patnazi swiftly mobilised a rescue operation. Their coordinated efforts led to the rapid arrangement for a helicopter landing in record time, underscoring their dedication to the community’s welfare and emergency management.
With great urgency and professionalism, the rescue team successfully evacuated Ulfat, carefully stabilising her condition for transportation. She was promptly airlifted to the Government Medical College in Jammu, where she could receive the critical medical attention required for her injuries.
This successful operation highlights the tireless efforts of the Indian Army, particularly the 26 RR Coy Patnazi. It illustrates their unwavering commitment to serving the public and ensuring the safety of those in dire need. Their actions not only provided immediate relief to Ulfat but also reinforced the importance of rapid response strategies in disaster situations.
Locals hail the efforts of District Administration Kishtwar, Tehsildar Bunjwah, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army 26 RR 9 Sector Suigarh and 26 RR COY Patnazi, whose timely intervention makes efforts in saving a precious life and sets an example of humanity alive.
