The Srinagar Court directed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to permit the students to appear in the annual examinations. The decision follows criticism from various quarters, including Kashmir politicians, who questioned the delay in implementing the court order.
The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) welcomed the minister’s late-night intervention, calling it a “bold and decisive” step. “The timely decision has brought immense relief to students and parents who were distressed due to administrative hurdles. It upholds the right to education and shows that the government is responsive to public concerns,” PSAJK President G N Var said.
Director of School Education Kashmir, GN Itoo, confirmed that the issue had been resolved in the interest of safeguarding students’ academic futures. However, he stated that strict action would be taken against the school for violating norms. (KNO)
