Afridi’s response came after the Asia Cup 2023, initially scheduled to take place entirely in Pakistan, had nine matches moved to Sri Lanka due to security and economic concerns.

Jay Shah had expressed concerns about security and the economic situation in Pakistan, leading to the decision to co-host the Asia Cup with Sri Lanka.
