Security Breach at New Delhi Hotel Raises Concerns.
Incident Involving UAE President Mirrors Previous Security Lapse.
New Delhi: In a disconcerting turn of events, New Delhi witnessed yet another breach of security protocol at a high-end hotel, this time involving the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The incident took place on the same day as a previous security breach that occurred during a visit by US President Joe Biden’s convoy at the very same hotel.
Saudi Arabian National Gains Unauthorized Access.
On a seemingly ordinary Saturday, a Saudi Arabian national, identified as a police officer, arrived at the Taj Mansingh Hotel in central Delhi. What set this visit apart was the G20 security clearance sticker affixed to the hotel car that transported him, raising questions about how he gained access to the high-security premises.
The man had been residing in a hotel located in the vicinity of Delhi’s airport, where he had come to attend to his brother’s medical treatment. After a prolonged wait in the hotel’s lobby, he noticed UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and decided to approach him. However, his efforts were swiftly thwarted by the vigilant security personnel accompanying the UAE President.
Confrontation and Resolution.
As the situation unfolded, the intruder engaged in an interaction with the security detail responsible for safeguarding the UAE President. Eventually, he was granted permission to meet President Al Nahyan. This turn of events has raised serious concerns about the efficacy of security measures in place, particularly in light of the previous breach involving President Biden’s convoy.
Interrogation and Release.
Following the incident, the Delhi police took the Saudi national into custody for questioning. Several investigative agencies joined in the extensive interrogation process. After hours of intense questioning and scrutiny, he was eventually released. It is important to note that the Delhi police had issued G20 security clearance stickers for hotel taxis, potentially adding a layer of complexity to this breach and prompting a review of security practices and policies to prevent such incidents from recurring.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for robust security measures and enhanced vigilance at high-profile events and locations, especially when hosting dignitaries of international importance.
