CBI apprehends NIA DySP & two middlemen; 2.5 Cr bribe demanded to save the complainant from the charges
For allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to extend favour to a person in probe, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday after receiving the complaint, arrested a Patna based DySP and two middlemen.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recieved a complaint from complainant Rocky Yadav who owns the Ramaiya Construction that Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Pratap Singh was extorting money from him by threatening to implicate his family in a case of having unlicensed assualt weapons. Rocky said, he demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 crore to make him safe from the case. Official said, rockey accepted the demand to save his family and was asked by the accused DySp to pay a starting amount of Rs 25 Lakh on the day of interrogation on September 26 and provided him a handwritten note containing a middleman’s mobile number.
After arranging a sum of Rs 25 Lakh, money was delivered to the recipient
who arrived in Aurangabad, Bihar, said, a CBI Spokesperson.
As per CBI, DySP Singh was in contact with middleman alongwith other middleman in Bihar. Singh summoned Rocky Yadav again on October 1, where a sum of Rs 70 Lakh was demanded with a handwritten note provided containing a mobile number. He made the contact with the recipient and assured the delivery of money on October 03.
The CBI trapped the accused, and apprehended and his two agents while accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant said a statement issued by the NIA.
The two alleged middlemen identified as Himanshu and Ritik Kumar Singh, were also arrested by the CBI, whereas the searches were conducted in Gaya, Patna and Varanasi, from where Rs 20 lakh cash has been seized.
