Jammu Kashmir Police Solve Major Theft Case, Recover Rs 4.5 Lakhs in Ramban

On August 8th, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ramban District successfully cracked a significant theft case, recovering Rs 4.5 lakhs in stolen cash and arresting three individuals involved in the crime.
The case originated from a complaint filed on April 30, 2024, by Reyaz Khan, a resident of Kunfer, Chanderkote. Khan reported that unknown thieves had broken into his shop in the main market of Chanderkote and stolen Rs 4,50,000 in cash.
In response to the complaint, the Chanderkote Police Station promptly registered FIR No. 56/2024 under Sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched an investigation.
Recognizing the gravity of the case, a special team was formed under the guidance of SSP Ramban, Sh. Anuj Kumar IPS, and closely supervised by Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban, to expedite the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, the police team led by SHO Chanderkote interrogated multiple suspects. Their efforts paid off when three individuals—Saddam Hussain, a resident of Bypass Nagrota, Jammu; Liyaqat Hussain, a resident of Chanderkote, Ramban; and Anayatullah Sheikh, also from Chanderkote, Ramban—confessed to the crime.
Based on their statements, the police were able to recover the stolen cash amounting to Rs 4.5 lakhs from their possession.
With the recovery of the stolen money and the apprehension of the accused, the case marks a significant achievement for the Ramban Police.
However, the investigation is still ongoing as the police continue to gather further evidence and determine if others were involved in the crime.
