Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister have reportedly fled the country amid escalating violence, leading security agencies in India to monitor a C-130 aircraft with the call sign AJAX1431.

The aircraft, suspected to be carrying Hasina and her entourage, was tracked near the Indian border and is believed to be headed towards Delhi, with an expected arrival time between 1700-1715 hours.

As the Bangladesh Air Force plane crossed Patna and neared the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, Indian security forces intensified their surveillance, with all radars focused on the aircraft’s movements. The situation is being closely monitored by top security officials.

Back in Bangladesh, Dhaka has erupted in both protests and celebrations following reports of Hasina’s resignation.

Prothom Alo, a local media outlet, reported that protesters set fire to significant locations, including the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi and the Dhaka district office of the Awami League. The fires, which started around 4 pm on Monday, also spread to nearby establishments.

Protesters were also seen entering Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister’s official residence, where they were chanting and celebrating Hasina’s alleged departure.

In a televised address, Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman confirmed Hasina’s resignation and urged citizens to maintain peace.

He emphasized that the army would oversee the political transition and assured the public that “all murders will be judged.”

General Waqar-uz-Zaman also revealed that he had met with representatives from various political parties, including BNP, Jatiya Party, and Jamaat-e-Islami, to discuss the formation of an interim government.
