Jammu, August 2: A tragic incident unfolded in Satyalata village, Udhampur district, where two children lost their lives, and fifteen others fell seriously ill after consuming food at a wedding ceremony on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Mohit, a three-year-old boy, son of Parshotam Singh, and Suman Devi, a twelve-year-old girl, daughter of Mohan Lal.
According to official reports, the children began experiencing symptoms of severe food poisoning shortly after eating.
The situation quickly escalated, leading to the unfortunate deaths of Mohit and Suman Devi. The other fifteen children affected were immediately provided with medical attention.
Among the fifteen, two children were found to be in critical condition and were urgently transferred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for advanced treatment.
The remaining thirteen children are currently receiving treatment at GMC Udhampur, where they are under close observation by medical professionals.
The local authorities were swiftly notified, and a police investigation into the suspected food poisoning incident has been initiated. Law enforcement officials are working to determine the source of the contamination that led to this tragic event.
The community of Satyalata village is in shock and mourning following the sudden loss of these young lives. Families and friends of the affected children are anxiously awaiting further updates on the condition of those still under medical care.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of food safety, especially during large gatherings such as weddings.
