Tragic Swing Collapse in Tangmarg: Boy Dead, Girl Injured

An eight-year-old boy tragically lost his life while a young girl sustained minor injuries after a swing (Jhula) collapsed in the Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday. The incident occurred in the village of Gogaldara, Tehsil Tangmarg, leading to serious injuries for two children.
According to an official from the news agency Kashmir Scroll, the accident happened due to an accidental breakdown of the swing. The injured children were immediately rushed to the JVC hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
Unfortunately, one of the children, identified as Farhan Ahmad Yattoo, son of Mohd Shafi Yatoo and a resident of Nasarpora Khag Budgam, succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.
The other injured child, Gazala Ashraf, daughter of Mohd Ashraf Dar from Gulab Daji Kwarhama Baramulla, is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for her injuries.
Following the incident, the local police station in Tangmarg has registered a case under relevant provisions of law. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the swing’s collapse and to ascertain any potential negligence or lapses that led to the tragic accident.
The community is deeply saddened by the loss of young Farhan Ahmad Yattoo and is hopeful for the swift recovery of Gazala Ashraf. Authorities are urging residents to ensure the safety and maintenance of playground equipment to prevent such incidents in the future.
