A Baloch rights organization has condemned the Pakistani government’s brutal response to an awareness campaign in Khuzdar, where several Baloch individuals were detained for organizing the “Baloch Raaji Muchi” (Baloch National Gathering). Reportedly, the Pakistani defense forces conducted raids at the homes of several Baloch individuals, resulting in severe injuries to people and detentions.
In a post on ‘X,’ PAANK expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “We are deeply concerned about reports from Khuzdar, #Balochistan, where Pakistani forces raided a home, injuring men, women, and children. Three women were wounded by gunfire, six individuals forcibly disappeared, and property was damaged and looted. In protest, locals blocked the Gresha to Bado Nala road. We call for an immediate investigation into this incident and accountability for human rights violations.”
According to reports, Pakistani forces in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan detained several young Baloch women over a peaceful pamphlet distribution campaign for the ‘Baloch Raaji Muchi.’ The detentions, conducted by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, have sparked outrage among activists and rights groups, who accuse the Pakistani state of escalating its repression of Baloch dissent. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) reported that the arrests took place on Khand Road in Khuzdar city, where women were distributing pamphlets promoting the Baloch National Gathering.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) condemned the violence in another statement, noting, “The CTD raided a home in Gresha Kocha area of Khuzdar, this morning. They resorted to extreme violence against innocent Baloch men, women, and children. Six men and three women were injured.” The statement further mentioned that the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) destroyed homes, seized mobiles, motorcycles, and cash, prompting locals to block Gresha Road in protest.
Baloch rights activist Maharang Baloch also condemned the brutality, highlighting the forcible disappearance and injuries inflicted on residents, including women. Maharang appealed to human rights organizations to take notice and urged the Baloch people to raise their voices against the incident.
The HRCP’s response highlights ongoing tensions in the region and underscores the urgent need for a constructive dialogue between authorities and the community to address grievances and work towards lasting peace.
