Massive Fire Engulfs Car Repair Workshop in Srinagar

SRINAGAR,18 JULY 2024 : A devastating fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a car repair workshop in Srinagar, causing extensive damage and drawing significant emergency response.

According to Md Ayoub, a fire official, the blaze erupted around 12:47 PM, prompting an urgent call to the state control room.

    Immediate Emergency Response

Five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to battle the fierce flames that had rapidly spread throughout the entire workshop.

Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control, although the operation was still ongoing at the time of the report.

The intense heat and thick smoke made the firefighting efforts challenging, but the fire crew remained determined to prevent further damage and potential spread to nearby structures.

    Cause of Fire Unknown

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, with officials stating that a thorough investigation will be conducted once the flames are completely extinguished.

“We still don’t know the cause of the fire,” said Ayoub. “The priority now is to control the fire and ensure the safety of everyone in the vicinity.”

Speculation about potential causes includes electrical faults, accidental sparks, or flammable materials within the workshop, but these remain unconfirmed until a detailed inquiry is completed.

    Firefighting Efforts Continue

As the firefighting operation continued, residents and onlookers gathered at a safe distance, watching anxiously as the fire crew battled the inferno.

The efforts to contain the fire were ongoing, and the situation was being closely monitored by the authorities.

“The operation is going on; we will later know how this happened. We have five fire tenders here with us to control the situation,” Ayoub reiterated.

The workshop, a vital part of the local community, suffered significant damage, and the impact on nearby businesses and residents was yet to be fully assessed.

The incident underscores the importance of stringent fire safety measures and preparedness to handle such emergencies promptly and effectively.

Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses and the full extent of the damage is assessed.
