India and Bangladesh Hold 4th Consular Dialogue in New Delhi

The 4th Round of the India-Bangladesh Consular Dialogue took place in New Delhi, with Aman Puri, Joint Secretary (CPV), leading the Indian delegation and Rokebul Haque, Director General (South Asia), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heading the Bangladeshi side, as informed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Instituted in 2017, this dialogue mechanism aims to enhance people-to-people contacts and establish regular communication on consular, visa, and mutual legal assistance matters between the two countries.
On Wednesday, the two sides engaged in wide-ranging discussions to enhance coordination and cooperation on consular issues, visa matters, repatriation, Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), and extradition cases. They also agreed to further strengthen the bilateral Revised Travel Arrangement (RTA) to facilitate smoother movement of nationals from both sides.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to promoting people-to-people exchanges and agreed to hold the next round of the dialogue in Dhaka at a mutually convenient date.
