National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah and PDP candidate Mohammad Fayaz Mir have officially entered the electoral arena for the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. Accompanied by party officials, including NC’s treasurer Shammi Oberoi and senior vice president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee G N Monga, Abdullah and Mir filed their nomination papers before Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, the returning officer of the constituency.

Multi-Cornered Contest Emerges

With the addition of People’s Conference president Sajad Gani Lone and jailed Awami Ittehad Party leader Abdul Rashid Sheikh alias Engineer Rashid, the electoral contest in Baramulla promises to be highly competitive. The number of candidates in the north Kashmir constituency has now reached 12, setting the stage for a closely watched political battle.

Important Dates Ahead

The deadline for filing nominations for the seat is May 3, with polling scheduled for May 20. As the election approaches, candidates and political parties are expected to intensify their campaign efforts to woo voters in Baramulla.
