Chief Secretary, Sh. Atal Dulloo, spearheaded a comprehensive review of the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020 across various regions of the Union Territory by the School Education Department (SED). The meeting, graced by key stakeholders including Administrative Secretary, School Education, and other department heads, emphasized the critical need for tangible progress and efficient monitoring mechanisms.

Measurable Indicators and Capacity Building Prioritized

During the session, Chief Secretary Dulloo underscored the importance of setting measurable indicators with clear timelines for the six verticals under NEP. He stressed the significance of regular monitoring to ensure the smooth execution of the policy, urging for heightened awareness among teachers regarding its provisions. Capacity building initiatives were also emphasized to equip educators with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective implementation.

Infrastructure Development and Stakeholder Engagement

A key focal point of discussion was the imperative to bridge implementation gaps within stipulated timeframes and enhance infrastructure to support NEP objectives. Chief Secretary Dulloo inquired about the status of establishing ICT and Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs), development of smart classrooms, and the establishment of Vidhya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) across J&K districts.

Moreover, he advocated for leveraging corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance school facilities and resources.In his presentation, Secretary of School Education, Piyush Singla, elaborated on the core principles and verticals of NEP-2020, emphasizing diversity, equity, community participation, and technological integration.

The Director of SCERT, Parikshat Singh, provided insights into the department’s training initiatives and progress under curriculum frameworks, highlighting the substantial participation of teachers and students in various capacity-building programs and vocational training endeavors.This collaborative effort underscores the UT’s commitment to realizing the transformative vision outlined in NEP-2020, ensuring inclusive, innovative, and quality education for all learners in Jammu and Kashmir.
