    External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar paid a visit to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday, expressing admiration for his vision aimed at strengthening ties between India and Malaysia. During the meeting, Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted the significance of Ibrahim’s vision in advancing the relationship between the two nations.

    Jaishankar emphasized that Ibrahim’s vision would serve as a catalyst for crafting a more ambitious agenda to foster stronger India-Malaysia ties, encompassing both traditional and new-age areas. He acknowledged benefiting greatly from Ibrahim’s guidance and insights on regional developments during their interaction.

    Deliberations with Malaysian Counterpart

    Jaishankar’s visit to Malaysia commenced with a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Mohamad Haji Hasan. Discussions between the two leaders covered various aspects of collaboration, including political, economic, defense, digital, startup, consular, and people-to-people linkages. They also exchanged views on regional dynamics, focusing on key issues in the Indo-Pacific, West Asia, and Ukraine.

    As the visit coincides with the completion of a decade of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between India and Malaysia, Jaishankar expressed optimism about further strengthening engagements between the two countries. He highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration and looked forward to deepening bilateral relations.

    Official Visit to Three Countries

    Jaishankar’s visit to Malaysia is part of his official tour to three countries, including Singapore and the Philippines, at the invitation of his counterparts. The visit, spanning from March 23 to March 27, aims to enhance bilateral relations and engage on regional issues of mutual concern, as per an official release from the Ministry of External Affairs.
