Operational Pause for Fighter Aircraft
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has initiated an operational pause within the ongoing Exercise Trishul in the northern sector, during which fighter aircraft will not be flying from September 7 to September 10. This pause is specific to the aircraft involved in Exercise Trishul, while routine flying operations will continue as usual.
AWACS Surveillance Deployment
During this operational pause, the IAF will commence the deployment of its PHALCON Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft to monitor airspace across the country. This measure is being taken to safeguard the airspace over the national capital region in anticipation of the G-20 summit.
Fighter Jet Deployment for Delhi Skies Protection
In preparation for the G-20 summit, the Indian Air Force is deploying its Rafale and other fighter jets to secure the skies over Delhi. Surface-to-air missile systems have also been strategically positioned around Delhi to neutralize potential threats from enemy aircraft or rogue drones.
Exercise Trishul
Exercise Trishul is a significant training exercise conducted by the Indian Air Force in the northern sector, encompassing the borders with both China and Pakistan. The exercise commenced on September 4 and will continue until September 14. It involves the participation of major fighter aircraft fleets, including the Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Su-30MKIs, as well as heavy-lift transport aircraft and helicopters, such as the Chinooks and Apaches. The exercise also features the Garud Special Forces, allowing for comprehensive training across all facets of air power.
This operational pause reflects the IAF’s commitment to ensuring the security and integrity of Indian airspace during the G-20 summit and underscores the importance of comprehensive training exercises like Exercise Trishul in maintaining readiness and preparedness.
