The District Administration of Bandipora took swift action on Sunday to arrange special air sorties, rescuing 120 stranded passengers from the snow-bound Kanzalwan area in North Kashmir’s Gurez sector.
Airlift Operations to Rescue Stranded Passengers
With the Bandipora-Gurez road blocked by multiple snow avalanches, the administration conducted airlift operations, transporting 60 passengers from Bandipora to Kanzalwan and another 60 from Kanzalwan to Bandipora, ensuring their safe return.
BRO Initiates Clearance Operation Amidst Snow Avalanches
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) commenced extensive clearance operations in the snow-avalanche-hit area, addressing the challenges posed by the adverse weather conditions and ensuring the restoration of essential transportation routes.
In a separate incident earlier this month, a team from the Public Works department successfully rescued seven local trekkers stranded at Mughal Road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district amidst heavy snowfall and avalanches, showcasing the commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens in challenging circumstances.
