AIRIndia’s sportspersons continued to shine on Day 8 of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, further bolstering the country’s overall medal tally to an impressive 53. This outstanding achievement is a testament to India’s prowess in various sports disciplines, with athletes consistently making their nation proud.

A Glorious Day for Athletics and Shooting

One of the standout moments of the day occurred in Athletics, where Avinash Mukund Sable set a new Asian Games record in the 3000-meter Steeplechase event, clocking an astonishing time of 8 minutes and 19.5 seconds to secure a gold medal. This remarkable feat not only brought glory to the nation but also showcased India’s growing dominance in track and field.

In the field events, Tajinder Pal Singh Toor displayed his mettle in Shot Put, successfully defending his gold medal with an impressive throw of 20.36 meters in the Men’s Final. Meanwhile, Sreeshankar’s remarkable leap in the long jump earned him a silver medal, contributing to India’s ever-growing medal count.

Shooting Brilliance and Historic Golf Success

India’s prowess in shooting was on full display as the team of Kynan Darius Chenai and Prithviraj Tondaiman secured the gold medal in the Men’s trap event. This achievement marked the end of the shooting events with India’s best-ever Games performance, accumulating a total of 22 medals, including seven gold.

    Heartbreaks and Silver Linings

Nikhat Zareen, competing in the 50 kg category in boxing, had to settle for a bronze medal after a valiant effort in the semifinal bout. Additionally, the Indian men’s Badminton team displayed immense skill and determination, ultimately earning a silver medal despite a hard-fought match against China, which ended 3-2 in China’s favor.

These athletes have not only excelled in their respective sports but have also become sources of inspiration for future generations.
