India’s Aditya-L1 Mission Escapes Earth’s Sphere of Influence: ISRO
India’s Aditya-L1 spacecraft, on a mission to study the Sun, has achieved a significant milestone by leaving the “sphere of Earth’s influence” and traveling a distance of 9.2 lakh (920,000) kilometers from Earth. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made this announcement via their official social media account, X (formerly Twitter).
Second Time in Succession
ISRO proudly stated that this achievement marks the second instance in which India has successfully sent a spacecraft beyond Earth’s sphere of influence. The first instance was with the Mars Orbiter Mission, which demonstrated India’s prowess in interplanetary exploration.

Path to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1)
The Aditya-L1 spacecraft is now on course to reach the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1), a specific location in space where the gravitational forces of the Sun and Earth balance the spacecraft’s position, allowing it to effectively “hover” in a stable position relative to both celestial bodies.
India’s Aditya-L1 mission, aimed at studying the Sun and its behavior, marks another significant milestone in the country’s growing capabilities in space exploration and research.
