Pakistan: 55 Fatalities in Second Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Suicide Bombing During Miladun Nabi Observance
Pakistan experienced a second devastating bomb blast on Friday during the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, marking the birth of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, Eid Miladun Nabi. The nation was shaken as two major blasts occurred within hours of each other, leaving communities in despair.
Blasts Rock Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The first explosion, a powerful suicide blast, ripped through a mosque in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province. Simultaneously, another blast struck a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu city, claiming the lives of at least three innocent people. The explosion in Balochistan took place near Madina Mosque on Al Falah Road in the Mastung district.
Shockingly, no group has come forward to claim responsibility for this horrific attack. Among the deceased was Mastung’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gashkori, who was on duty for the rally.
Terror Strikes Mastung Again
This tragic incident occurred just one day after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralized a key Islamic State (ISIS) commander in the Mastung district. This marks the second major blast that has terrorized Mastung in the past 15 days, according to Geo News. Earlier this month, a blast in the same district left at least 11 people injured.
Mastung has been a frequent target of terror attacks for several years, with one of the deadliest attacks in the district’s history occurring in July 2018, claiming the lives of at least 128 people. The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, formed as an umbrella group for multiple terrorist organizations in 2007, has been responsible for many of these deadly attacks across the country.

The Persistent Threat of Terrorism in Pakistan
This group, believed to have close ties to al-Qaeda, has been implicated in numerous deadly attacks across Pakistan, including the 2009 assault on army headquarters, attacks on military bases, and the 2008 bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. The nation has faced ongoing security challenges due to these extremist elements.
In January, a Taliban suicide bomber tragically detonated himself in a mosque crowded with worshippers during afternoon prayers in Pakistan’s northwestern Peshawar city, claiming the lives of over 100 people.
Similarly, last year, a horrifying attack inside a Shia mosque in the Kocha Risaldar area of the city resulted in the loss of 63 innocent lives.
