Special Relationship Between India and Argentina
President Fernández highlighted the unique and special relationship between India and Argentina. He emphasized the enduring ties between the two countries, noting that both nations share a deep-rooted bond. Interestingly, he drew attention to a common cultural icon, Lionel Messi, who is celebrated and cherished in both Argentina and India. However, beyond shared figures, President Fernández stressed the importance of their similar worldviews, which further solidify their connection.
Argentina’s BRICS Membership and Proposal for a Common Currency
President Fernández expressed his appreciation for Argentina’s invitation to join the BRICS alliance following the 15th BRICS Summit. He commended the founding members of BRICS for their decision to expand the alliance by incorporating new countries. Additionally, he lauded their innovative proposal to create a common currency, signaling a move away from the dominance of the US Dollar. President Fernández proposed expanding the G20 to include Latin American and Caribbean States, a move he believed would be in line with the recent inclusion of the African Union. Views on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Sharing his perspective on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, President Fernández acknowledged the stark differences in views between the northern and southern regions. While the northern nations have adopted a strict stance in supporting Ukraine with weapons and resources, the southern nations, including Argentina, have varying perspectives. President Fernández stated that Argentina believes Russia’s actions in the conflict were wrong.
