Google Pixel 9 Leaks: Redesigned Camera, Compact Design, and AI Focus Revealed
While the Google Pixel 8 is still relatively new in the market, early glimpses of its successor, the Pixel 9, have already surfaced on the internet. These initial renders provide a sneak peek into what could be the design of Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone. The images depict the device in a striking blue hue and hint at a notable enhancement for the standard model—three cameras on the rear.
It seems that Google may have opted for a redesign of the rear camera module, as suggested by the renders. Noteworthy changes include flat edges on the Pixel 9, reminiscent of the Pixel 9 Pro, and a hole-punch cutout on the display for the selfie camera. The leaked information, presented by tipster Steve H. McFly in collaboration with 91Mobiles, unveils a compact design with flattened sides, drawing parallels to the latest iPhone 15 series.
The Pixel 9 is anticipated to feature a redesigned rear camera module housing three sensors and an LED flash, marking a significant advancement for the standard Pixel model. Unlike its predecessors, which sported dual rear cameras, the Pixel 9’s camera unit adopts an oval-shaped island layout, similar to the Pixel Fold, deviating from the extended camera bar seen in earlier models. Notably, a new periscope telephoto lens is expected to be incorporated into the camera setup, aligning the regular Pixel closer to the capabilities of the Pro model.
In terms of specifications, the Pixel 9’s design and features are poised to bring it more in line with the Pro model. The leaked images showcase the Pixel 9 in a distinctive blue color, leaving room for speculation about potential additional color options during the official launch. The handset’s screen, with a centrally located single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, adds to the overall aesthetic appeal.
According to available information, the Google Pixel 9 is expected to measure 152.8×71.9×8.5mm, featuring a slightly smaller 6.1-inch screen compared to the Pixel 8’s 6.2-inch display. This adjustment aligns with Google’s commitment to AI technology, as emphasized during the Google I/O 2023 event, where the company highlighted its dedication to enhancing apps, services, and the Android operating system with AI capabilities.
