ACB Arrests Hospital Official in sopore for Bribery in Birth Certificate Case
On Wednesday, the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) reported the apprehension of an individual affiliated with the sub-district hospital in Sopore. The arrest was made in connection to the alleged solicitation and acceptance of a bribe in exchange for the issuance of a birth certificate.
According to an official statement, Mehraj U Din Wani was detained by the ACB while in the act of demanding and receiving a bribe amounting to Rs. 3,600. The recipient of this bribe was identified as Farooq Ahmad Misger.
The official clarified that Misger had approached Wani to obtain a birth certificate for his daughter. However, Wani, leveraging his official position, purportedly insisted on the payment of the bribe as a condition for facilitating the issuance of the certificate.
